Our Story
Hi, My name is Karen, I live in beautiful North Wales with my dog Maggie. Over the years I’ve had many dogs and other pets, and living with them and learning from them has given me a great insight into their needs. My love for animals led me to a career as a RCVS registered veterinary nurse, something I pursued for over 16 years, even becoming a lecturer and training others into their veterinary career.
Following some significant life events I switched to the human side of nursing and reached the grade of Sister in an ICU (intensive care unit), a highly demanding environment especially over the last few years.
Throughout all of that my love of working with animals has always been there, and now with the help of my partner Pete (the technical one!) I have founded Poochio.
Poochio's aim is to supply dogs and their owners with high quality products to make their dog life fun, exciting, adventurous, and just downright happy.
We only focus on dogs (and their owners!), and as such we are able to offer a wide variety of product lines at prices a lot more reasonable than you can find at the large retail chain stores.
We do that by working with manufacturers, shipping directly from them to minimise overheads, but also often have items in stock at bargain prices where we have found and negotiated a great deal.
Treating your dog like your best friend comes naturally to most of us, but sometimes some outside ideas come in handy, so have a read of our forums where you can ask questions or post tips and hints about your life with dogs.
